Not really, no one said no - at least not deliberately. I just wanted to create a community where women of all ages and backgrounds can get together and share each other's stories - successes and struggles - while lifting each other up and
ultimately empowering each other to be better at what we do.
everywhere! at home, at work, in the garden, in the beach. just not in the park, I swear.
get up. get ready. get coffee. get to work. get moving (with a purpose). get food. get back to work. get back home. get to bed. done!
... I'm not about a lot of things either, it just depends - really - once you get to know me.
a lot of things - but most importantly so, I believe in the power of outreach and positivity.
I am so glad you’re here. I started this blog because I wanted to inspire and empower others by sharing stories – both successes and struggles – of the everyday woman.
As an immigrant to this country, I found it hard to fit in. It most felt like I had to juggle in so many different identities and at times, trying to change into a whole new person. Growing up as a kid in the 90s with very little social media background, it was hard to find female role models to look up to besides my Mom. Nevertheless, I am glad to have been raised by a strong, independent woman. Unfortunately, I cannot speak for many others who didn’t have the same experience growing up. Fast forward to now in this digital age, I’m even happier that we have resources to include social media and see a lot of inspiring women dominate multiple spaces and beyond.
Even with early ambitions to move to America, I realized it would take a lot of barriers to take down in order for me to achieve my goals. It was when I first got here that I started becoming passionate about feminism – especially with all the unnecessary struggles I had to go through alone. Having experienced a different level of hardship in the early wake of my adult life definitely rocked my world which led me to so many forked roads. It was such a rocky rollercoaster ride which almost took me leaving the church, questioning my being, quitting on my friends and even reevaluating my life only to find out that I am my own person and I certainly do not need anyone to come save me or give me answers in life. I had a moment of clarity which opened my eyes and see more of what life can give me and what else is out there for me.
At one point, I became part of a female group that eventually helped me find a path that truly represented the woman that I want to become and gave me a clear vision of a life I wanted to live.
From an early age, my Mom planted a seed in me that drew me to stories about women who would defeat the odds and break barriers. I remember watching movies which featured aspiring and iconic actresses who are very determined to not accept being second best. And I remember being so inspired and empowered to be one of them.
As a teenager I would find specific women who are good at what they do and just follow their lead until I was able to establish my footprint. These women weren’t necessarily celebrities and are not well known, but they were brave, wise and bold.
Coming from a different perspective now and almost in my 3rd decade in life, I have enabled myself to see much more clearly what’s up ahead while acknowledging my roots – harnessing the power of that seed planted in me through my family. At this age, I have also realized I have a passion and hunger for more stories about women like me who have struggled and never felt like they belonged. Hence, the birth of this platform that I have envisioned.
In this blog, I wanna feature the everyday woman who are creating inspiring change in our world. I hope to bring a space that honors women of today (to include those who identify as female) from all walks of life proudly representing the woman that they want to be. I also hope to provide support and feature programs that I believe women would greatly benefit from.
